OPENING KEYNOTE
RealNetworks Chairman and CEO, Rob Glaser, will once again deliver the
opening keynote at this year’s Real Conference. Just six years ago,
a small Seattle start-up called Progressive Networks® launched RealAudio,
"breaking the Internet sound barrier" and revolutionizing media
and communications. Since that time, the company, later named RealNetworks,
has become the driving force in Internet media delivery, with over 200
million unique registered RealPlayer® users worldwide. In the last
year alone, RealNetworks has fundamentally changed the direction of this
industry by introducing: RealSystem® iQ, the intelligent
universal media delivery platform; the RealSystem Media Commerce Suite,
which provides content owners and rights holders a flexible, universal
and secure platform to ignite successful businesses; GoldPass™, a
content subscription service which has inked deals with the National Basketball
Association and Major League Baseball; MusicNet®, a joint venture
with a majority of the major record labels that will provide a breakthrough
platform for online music subscription services; and a call to the industry
to adopt a new standard called XMCL, designed to ensure the success
of secure media delivery business models.
In his address, Rob Glaser will talk about his vision for the future of
Internet media, the huge opportunities that are ahead and what we can
do together to drive this industry forward.
